Radio Host: What’s your latest obsession?

Hank: Just the fact that people seem to be getting dumber and dumber. You know, I mean we have all this amazing technology and yet computers have turned into basically four figure wank machines. The internet was supposed to set us free, democratize us, but all it’s really given us is Howard Dean’s aborted candidacy and 24 hour a day access to kiddie porn. People…they don’t write anymore – they blog. Instead of talking, they text, no punctuation, no grammar: LOL this and LMFAO that. You know, it just seems to me it’s just a bunch of stupid people pseudo-communicating with a bunch of other stupid people in a proto-language that resembles more what cavemen used to speak than the King’s English.

Radio Host: Yet you’re part of the problem, I mean you’re out there blogging with the best of them.

Hank: Hence my self-loathing.

    Heh, my sentiments exactly! 🙂

Can’t wait for the show to come to India (if it ever does). BTW, what’s with the title? Do we make anything of it other than the fact that perhaps the show’s originators like RHCP?

BTW, isn’t is still Queen’s English? I know poor Charlie boy’s been chafing at the bit for a long time now, so I guess England should be rewarded with its very own home-grown effete, part-senile, philandering, anachronistic monarch soon.

  2. It doesn’t originate from the RHCP song by the way. It has more to do with California and Fornication (what with all the gratuitous sex on the show).

  3. Interesting point of view – I wonder if he would have said the same thing about television 50 years ago, or newspapers a 150 years ago?

Haven’t had a chance to see this show yet, what with my falling behind on the other Showtime serials. Have you seen Weeds or Dexter? Showtime seems to have a solid stable of shows now, right in time for the post-Soprano crisis at HBO.

  4. I’m intrigued by the plot of Dexter…might give it a try soon. Californication is pretty darn good but not without it’s shortcomings.

There are times when the show embraces the very cliches it seems to stand against. Some very clever writing saves the day.
