I’ve come a long way from thinking of sports as an overrated exhibition of suppressed animal instincts and misplaced male bravura. Over the last few days, it has dawned on me that yours truly is no less capable of mouthing curses or screaming jubilations during the course of a 100 overs.

I may have just picked the right time to be a fan…

    yeah Jackass!
    where had u been all this while?

  4. @noconvolutions: I’ve been around…was someone looking for me? Or are you just missing me terribly? I can understand…. πŸ™‚

  5. Sports still are an “exhibition of suppressed animal instincts and misplaced male bravura” – but a fun one. At least to watch… πŸ™‚

  6. Beware! One who lives in the enemy camp walks on the edge of a sword. The timing might just be right but the location certainly wrong. πŸ˜‰

  7. Oh yeah baby.. Way 2 go India! Damn, i think i should get a tv! =p wats happening mate?

  8. 8 jinx

    I may be the only person who couldn’t care less.

  9. @kalafudra Fun maybe. Tedious and time consuming definitely.

    @indisch I’m an opportunist. I’m a fan of whoever wins. πŸ™‚

    @guru Um…I’m fairly certain you hardly have time to watch TV now. πŸ™‚ Alls well here macha…the usual. Except that I’m into sports now and I play video games. πŸ™‚

    @jinx You…you’re one of a kind.

  10. “overrated exhibition of suppressed animal instincts and misplaced male bravura” – Testosterone, you forgot to add testosterone to the list of why sports are popular. πŸ™‚

    Don’t shoot, but the only thing interesting about cricket is the last few overs. And perhaps Gilchrist, who is so…yummy in a Chandler Bing-y way.

    Right, I know, here’s where I should stop talking. :-\

    But yeah, cricket, whatever.

    Aww crap. The “Anonymous” is me. Realised I had to fill in the details about a nanosec after hitting “submit.”

    ::bangs head on desk::

  13. @BPSK But that wouldn’t explain women in sports. Or would it? 😐

    @Charl Um…I watch just the last few overs too. This post was a bit…um…exaggerated. Gilchrist is retired now isn’t he? One less reason to watch cricket now? πŸ™‚

  14. 14 Charl

    Uh-uh. You got it.

    And as for BPSK’s comment, the testosterone thing makes sense in pointing out the popularity of sports, which is what he was doing, and not in describing an opinion of sports, which is what you were doing. It would partly account for why (some? most?) women watch sports; while I find cricket boring up until the last few overs, I watch football from start to finishβ€”not just cause I’m crazy about it, it being such an amazing adrenaline-pumping game, but also because its filled to the brim with delicious testosterone. Testosterone? A definite plus:-)

  15. @Charl So what about womens’ volleyball and the likes? I can understand why men watch but why do women play?

    I guess this is as good a time as any to *not* delve further into the matter. πŸ™‚

  16. 16 noconvolutions

    yeah confession of an empty mind…”MISSING YOU” 😦

  17. @noconvolutions: Awww πŸ™‚
